Best Barber Booking App in Ireland (2027) — 6 Apps Ranked by What You Actually Pay

2 November 2026·8 min read

Most "best barber app" lists are written for the US and quote dollar prices that mean nothing in Dublin or Cork. This one ranks the six booking apps an Irish barber is most likely to be choosing between in 2027, on one test: what the app actually costs you each month once subscription, commission on new clients and card fees are added up. Every price below was checked against the provider's own pricing page on 31 October 2026, and the sources are listed at the end. One disclosure up front: Barbify publishes this guide and is on the list. We have tried to make that the reason to be more careful, not less — including saying where a competitor is the better choice.

How We Ranked Them

Feature lists all look the same: online booking, calendar, reminders. What separates these apps for a barber in Ireland is how they make their money, because that decides what you pay as you get busier. We scored each app on five things:

  • Total monthly cost for a typical Irish barber (the worked example below)
  • Whether it takes a cut of your bookings or of new clients
  • Whether clients book on your own branded page or inside a marketplace next to other shops
  • WhatsApp reminders — what Irish clients actually read
  • Euro pricing and an Irish presence, rather than a UK or US product sold into Ireland

The Worked Example: One Barber, One Month

To compare like with like, take a solo barber charging €30 a cut, doing 120 appointments a month, 15 of them first-time clients who found the shop through the app's marketplace. Card processing is left out where it is the same either way — every option charges it, whether through the app or your own payment provider.

On those numbers, before VAT:

  • Barbify — €11.99/month (€9.99/month billed yearly). 0% commission, so the 15 new clients cost nothing extra.
  • Square Appointments — €0 on the Free plan (single location). Paid plans are €19 or €49/month.
  • Fresha — €14.95 subscription + 20% of each new marketplace client's first booking (15 × €6 = €90) ≈ €105/month.
  • Booksy — £40/month subscription; with Boost switched on, another 30% of each new client's first visit (15 × €9 = €135).
  • Treatwell — subscription (Ireland pricing is not published; UK plans are £9.99–£59) + 35% of each new marketplace client's first booking (15 × €10.50 = €157.50) ≈ €160+/month.
  • Vagaro — around £20/month for one calendar, with no Irish site or euro pricing.

1. Barbify — Best Overall for Irish Barbers

Barbify is built only for barbers and only for Ireland: euro pricing, Irish mobile numbers, and booking reminders sent on WhatsApp as well as email, 24 hours and 2 hours before each appointment. Clients book on your own page at yourname.barbify.ie — no other shops on it — and every client is saved to your own client list.

The money side is the reason it ranks first. Barbify charges a flat subscription and takes 0% of your bookings. Deposits and payments go through your own Stripe, SumUp or Dojo account and land in your bank, so Barbify never touches the money and never adds a margin to your card rate. A walk-in queue and kiosk check-in are included on PRO, and the Team plan adds per-barber calendars for shops of up to 5 barbers.

Where it falls short: Barbify is not a marketplace. It will not send you strangers browsing for a haircut — your clients find you through your Instagram, Google profile and word of mouth, and the booking link turns that attention into appointments. And on the Free plan you get 30 bookings a month with no WhatsApp reminders; most working barbers will want PRO.

  • Price: Free plan, or PRO from €11.99/month (€9.99/month yearly), 21-day trial with no card
  • Commission: 0% on every booking
  • Best for: independent barbers and shops who already have clients and want to keep them

2. Square Appointments — Cheapest If You Only Need a Calendar

Square's Free plan is genuinely free for a single location and includes text and email reminders, which makes it the cheapest serious option on this list. If you already take card payments on a Square reader, it slots in neatly.

It is a general appointment tool, though, not a barber one. There is no WhatsApp, no walk-in queue built for a barbershop, and payments run through Square rather than a provider of your choosing. Paid plans (€19 and €49/month plus VAT) add features for bigger teams.

  • Price: Free plan; Plus €19/month; Premium €49/month (plus VAT)
  • Commission: none on bookings; card fees through Square
  • Best for: a solo barber who already uses Square and wants the lowest possible bill

3. Fresha — Best If You Want Marketplace Exposure

Fresha has the biggest marketplace in Ireland and a polished app, and for a barber who is new to an area and needs strangers to find them, that reach is worth something. Its card fees (1.29% + €0.20) are competitive too.

But Fresha is no longer free. It now charges €14.95/month for an independent (or €9.95 per team member) plus VAT, and keeps its one-time 20% fee — minimum €5 — on every new client it brings you through the marketplace. You also get 20 text or WhatsApp messages a month, then pay per message. Your booking page is a listing inside the marketplace, alongside other shops.

  • Price: €14.95/month (independent) or €9.95 per team member/month, plus VAT
  • Commission: 20% (min €5) on a new marketplace client's first booking; 0% on returning clients
  • Best for: barbers who need new clients more than they need to keep costs flat

4. Booksy — Strong App, UK Pricing

Booksy is popular with barbers and has a good client-facing app. It prices in pounds for the UK and Ireland region: £40/month plus £5 for each extra team member, plus VAT. Its optional Boost feature promotes you in the Booksy marketplace and takes 30% (minimum £5) of each new client's first visit when it works.

For a busy barber with an established client base, that subscription is the most expensive on this list before any commission is counted.

  • Price: £40/month + £5 per extra team member (plus VAT)
  • Commission: none by default; Boost takes 30% (min £5) of a new client's first visit
  • Best for: barbers who want Booksy's consumer app and are happy to pay for it

5. Treatwell — Largest Commission on New Clients

Treatwell is a big beauty marketplace that also lists barbers. Repeat bookings and bookings through your own channels carry no commission, but every new client who finds you on the Treatwell marketplace costs 35% + VAT of their first booking — on a €30 cut, that is over €12. Online prepayments carry a further 2.5% + VAT.

Treatwell does not publish its subscription prices for Ireland; in the UK its plans run from £9.99 to £59 a month.

  • Price: subscription (UK plans £9.99–£59/month; Ireland not published)
  • Commission: 35% + VAT on a new marketplace client's first booking
  • Best for: salons offering beauty treatments as well as cuts

6. Vagaro — Feature-Rich, Not Built for Ireland

Vagaro packs in a lot of features and costs around £20/month for one calendar in the UK. It has no Irish site and no euro pricing, and it is aimed at salons, spas and fitness studios more than barbershops. Worth a look if you need a specific feature it has; otherwise there are better fits for an Irish barber.

  • Price: around £20/month for one calendar (UK)
  • Commission: none on bookings
  • Best for: multi-service businesses that need its wider feature set

Which One Should You Pick?

If you already have regular clients and want to stop paying for them twice, pick an app that takes 0% of your bookings and gives you your own page — Barbify, or Square Appointments if you only need a free calendar. If you are starting out somewhere new and need strangers to find you, a marketplace like Fresha can earn its fee for a while; just watch that 20% line on your statement as you get busier.

Whatever you choose, check the provider's own pricing page before you sign up. Prices in this market change — Fresha's move from free to a subscription is the clearest example — and this guide is dated so you can see how fresh it is.
